Maersk Opens New Logistics Center in Panama Pacifico
Maersk has launched a new logistics center in Panama Pacifico, leveraging Panama's strategic position as a global gateway to Latin America.
Located within the Panama Pacifico Special Economic Zone, the facility spans over 20,000 square meters and serves as a centralized distribution hub for companies operating across Latin America, North America, and Asia. The site enables businesses to consolidate inventory, streamline regional distribution, and accelerate time-to-market from a highly connected location.
The Panama Pacifico Logistics Center is fully integrated into Maersk’s global logistics network, offering multimodal connectivity by sea, land, and air. It is serviced by several weekly ocean routes, including direct connections from Asia, and cross-border trucking into Central America—positioning the center as a nerve hub for regional supply chains.
Facility Highlights:
- Total area: 20,394 m²
- Ceiling height: 11.5 meters
- Racked storage: 10,952 pallet positions
- Warehouse storage: 3,824 positions
- Floor storage: 2,558 pallet positions
Designed for flexibility and scalability, the new center supports single-inventory, multi-country omnichannel distribution, domestic fulfillment, inventory and outbound management, consolidation, deconsolidation, and cross-docking. It offers a broad range of value-added services including labeling, kitting, repackaging, returns management, product handling, palletization, and quality control.
Equipped with Maersk’s Warehouse Management System (WMS), the facility provides real-time inventory visibility, automated preparation, and seamless integration with customer systems. For distribution, both full truckload (FTL) and less-than-truckload (LTL) services are available, enabling direct delivery to distribution centers, retailers, and wholesalers, including potential cross-border shipments.
The center connects directly to the Pacific-side Pan-American Highway, airports, and seaports. It is also linked to the Panama Canal Railway, a 76-kilometer corridor that offers efficient transport between the Pacific and Atlantic coasts. Additionally, Maersk’s air freight services via Panama City’s Tocumen International Airport help connect Latin America to global markets.
