GXO Logistics Inc. recently announced two significant advancements, with a focus on shaping its future growth trajectory.

The company has appointed a new chief executive officer and received approval from the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) for its acquisition of Wincanton.

Patrick Kelleher was appointed chief executive officer last Friday. He will begin his term on August 19th and will work at the company's headquarters in Greenwich, Connecticut.

GXO Logistics is one of the world's largest pure contract logistics providers. It has over 150,000 team members, distributed across more than 1,000 facilities, with a total area of over 200 million square feet.

Brad Jacobs, the chairman of the GXO board, said in a press release: "Patrick is a world-class operator with relevant experience and can lead GXO through the next stage of growth."

Kelleher will bring 33 years of global supply chain experience to GXO. He previously held senior management positions at DHL Supply Chain Company. Recently, he served as the Chief Executive Officer of DHL North America.

GXO Logistics also announced that CMA has approved the company's acquisition of Wincanton. According to a press release, the approval comes with specific conditions requiring the divestiture of a small number of grocery contracts of Wincanton in the UK.

GXO will acquire Wincanton for approximately $1 billion. Wincanton is a major logistics and supply chain operator in the UK and Ireland.

The integration of GXO and Wincanton is expected to commence in the third quarter. The company also updated its full-year guidance for 2025.
