On January 6th, a vessel operated by CULINES lost approximately 27 containers.


According to and port sources, the Hong Kong-registered container ship "CUL HUANGPU" from CULINES experienced an accident in Taiwanese waters, resulting in several boxes ( containers) falling overboard.


The vessel was approximately 17 nautical miles from Keelung Port at the time. It is speculated that severe conditions and loosely secured containers may have contributed to the containers being swept away by massive waves.


As of 11 a.m., three of the dr containers have been located. The search for the remaining containers continues.


The Taiwanese maritime authorities have been notified and have issued navigation warnings to ensure the safety of in the affected area.


It is understood that CULINES has initiated its accident response procedures, including coordination with local government, insurance providers, and relevant stakeholders The potential environmental risks are being assessed, and it is determined whether any of the containers pose a threat to navigation or marine ecosystems.


Industry sources note that container incidents tend to increase during periods of bad weather and heavy vessel loading, prompting the industry to renew calls for stricter cargo securing standards and enhanced monitoring.


The comes as container safety issues are under stricter scrutiny, as shipping lines face increasing regulatory and insurance pressures to reduce losses and improve reporting transparency.
