PROFILE - SWITZERLAND A new chapter in the company's history started in April 2006, when Daniel Richner took over all shares of M+R Spedag from his father and founding member, Hansruedi Richner. Daniel Richner has been with the company for over 30 years. In the 70's, while studying economic sciences at the university of Basel, he also worked at M+R, gradually passing through all departments. After graduating, he took on different postings in Geneva and Italy to further deepen his language skills. His first big challenge presented itself in 1985, when M+R Spedag opened up their first offices in Asia. In 1986, he moved with his family to Asia, where he took over the reigns over this new venture. Over a course of 6 years he directed M+R Forwarding Asia, and set it on a course that would prove enormously successful. In 1992, back at the head office in Switzerland, Daniel Richner took charge of all overseas divisions of the company group. In 2001 he became CEO of the entire group. The successor arrangements were completed in April 2006, when he also took over all shares of the company from is father, and assumes the presidency of the company. The transition is a clear signal to employees, clients and partners that M+R Spedag remains an independent company group in the global logistics market. M+R Spedag Group is a leading, independent Swiss logistics company with over 1000 employees worldwide. The group is operational in 58 locations in 23 countries with its own companies, and has a global network of partners.
