On October 27th, the "COSCO Asia" slowly set sail from the Yangpu International Container (hereinafter referred to as "Yangpu Port"), marking a pivotal moment in Yangpu Port's development history – the successful maiden voyage of the COS Shipping East Asia-West South America route in Yangpu. The launch of this new route is of great significance, as it will significantly enhance the efficiency of logistics operations between Hain and various countries in South America, effectively reduce comprehensive transportation costs, and build a solid "two-way bridge" for trade in characteristic goods between Hainan and South America., in turn, will powerfully propel Yangpu Port towards its goal of becoming a "two-way dual hub" port facing the world and lead the Hainan Free Port into a new stage of higher-level opening-up and development.
As a key natural port and an important gateway for regional logistics on the western coast of South America the Port of Callao in Peru has been closely connected with Yangpu Port, a core port for the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port and an important hub of the Land-Sea New Corridor, through this new route. This new route is an optimization and upgrade based on the original Far East-West South America route, with Yang Port designated as an important port of call and 10 large container vessels deployed to ensure sufficient shipping capacity. This move has greatly enriched the route network layout of Yangpu Port successfully established a critical logistics channel for Hainan to directly reach the western coast of South America.
With the help of COSCO Shipping's vast global route network Yangpu Port has built a logistics chain of "domestic coastal—Southeast Asia—Pacific—South America," further strengthening its role as a hub of the Western Land-a New Corridor and enhancing its radiating and driving force. The one-way sailing time of this route is consistently stable at 29 days, precisely meeting the demand goods trade with high logistics timeliness requirements between Hainan and South America. This has enabled the connection between the Hainan Free Trade Port and the South American market to transition the previous "transit detour" to a "direct connection," laying a solid foundation for the subsequent trade facilitation work after the Hainan Free Trade Port' closure.
As the core port of the Hainan Free Trade Port and an important hub of the Western Land-Sea New Corridor, Yangpu Port has intensified the improvement of its route layout in recent years and has initially constructed a shipping system that covers the domestic coastal areas, radiates Southeast Asia, and connects the Pacific. In future, Yangpu Port will continue to deepen the integrated development pattern of "shipping port logistics," continuously densify the global route network, and continuously optimize the ports service environment. It will also promote the port's in-depth integration into the grand pattern of jointly building the "Belt and Road.
