From July to September 2025, the Philippine Bureau of Customs (BOC) generated P1.069 in revenue through public auctions of seized and abandoned goods.

The auctions were organized by the Auction and Goods Disposal Department at the Port of Manila, the Manila Container Port, and the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. The BOC, in a media statement, reported a total auction revenue of P1.069265 billion.

Items auctioned included consumer goods, vehicles, fuel products, industrial materials, furniture, and a variety of goods from forfeited shipments.

TheOC stated that the auction proceeds form part of the agency's overall tax collection and directly contribute to government funds supporting basic public services and priority projects.

The disposal activities were in accordance with Section 1118 and Sections 1139 to 1151 of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act, and relevant executive orders ensuring the disposal of goods through public auction, negotiated sale, or donation, with transparency and adherence to established procedures.

Customs officials emphasized that the BOC's auction activities align with the Philippine President's directive to strengthen fiscal discipline and improve customs operations. "Through the conduct of lawful and transparent auctions, the BOC has discharged its mandate of protecting government revenue and promoting legitimate trade," the statement read.

The Philippine Customs reiterated in a statement its commitment to accountability and efficiency in all goods disposal, emphasizing the need to optimize underutilized resources for the benefit of the Filipino people.
