The Spanish National Guard is currently investigating a recent cocaine seizure case.
Authorities intercepted a suspicious inbound container ship and found nine individuals on board who appeared to be attempting to steal cocaine from a rival gang.
The police are tracking the vessel, which was sailing from Vigo to Malaga, suspecting possible cocaine smuggling. According to media reports, the ship originated from Guayaquil, Ecuador, and was found about 40 miles from the Bay of Cádiz.
The ship was directed to the port of Cádiz for a thorough search. When the authorities boarded, they discovered nine people had already boarded the vessel and removed cocaine packages from a container. A total of 38 packages of cocaine were found near the container, weighing approximately 1,300 kilograms.
The police have released video footage of the armed forces searching the ship.
Due to the ship's size, the search took considerable time. Authorities suspect there may be additional undiscovered cocaine on board.
The nine individuals have been detained and are currently undergoing questioning.
