According to Maersk’s official website, the company has opened a new packaging and cold chain logistics center in Olmos, Peru.
This 17,500-square-meter facility integrates services such as packaging, sorting, refrigeration, and container yard operations. It is designed to handle avocados, blueberries, mangoes, and other seasonal agricultural products.
According to Peru's National Institute of Statistics and Informatics, blueberry and avocado exports grew by 35.7% and 29.2% respectively in 2024.
The center includes seven rapid cooling tunnels, a dedicated pre-cooling system for blueberries, and storage capacity for 2,088 pallets and over 4,600 boxes. It can process up to 38 tons of avocados and mangoes per hour, and 4.5 tons of blueberries. The container yard, with 420 slots and 210 plug-in points, supports reefer container operations.
An automated system manages packaging, grading, electronic sorting, and inventory through an integrated warehouse management and ERP platform.
The facility aligns with Maersk’s 2040 decarbonization targets, featuring electrified equipment, a water treatment system, and a planned installation of solar panels by 2026.
Maersk expects the center to handle over 10,000 tons of agricultural products in its first year, improving export efficiency.
