On March 27, Wan Hai Lines held a naming ceremony for its vessel Wan Hai A18 at the Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard in Geoje, Korea, along with a charity event. The ceremony was presided over by Ms. Huang Yongchen, President of Mega International Commercial Bank Co., Ltd., who blessed the ship, wishing it good luck and safe voyages.
Since 2021, Wan Hai Lines has signed contracts with Samsung Heavy Industries for 13 container vessels, each with a capacity of 13,100 TEU. Wan Hai A18 is the 11th vessel in this series. After its delivery, the vessel will join Wan Hai Lines’ Asia to South America West Coast (ASA) route. The series of container vessels measure 335 meters in length, 51 meters in width, and feature new engines and various eco-friendly, energy-saving designs.
Wan Hai A18 is the first ship in the series to be equipped with a windshield and an auxiliary generator. The large windshield, installed at the bow of the vessel, is designed to reduce wind resistance and improve fuel efficiency. Meanwhile, the shaft generator, powered by the ship's main engine, contributes to fuel savings and supports the goal of green shipping, demonstrating Wan Hai Lines’ commitment to environmental protection.
The continued delivery of the 13,100 TEU series of vessels marks the further expansion and upgrading of Wan Hai’s fleet. This not only enhances the company’s capacity but also strengthens its market competitiveness, enabling it to offer more comprehensive and higher-quality services to its customers. In addition to naming the new vessel, Wan Hai Lines also made a donation to local charitable organizations, aiming to benefit the local community and fulfill the company’s corporate social responsibility. This initiative reflects Wan Hai’s dedication to providing excellent service to its customers and making a positive contribution to society.
