According to foreign media reports, a container ship "ONE CONTINUITY" operated by ONE lost about 45 containers due to waves while sailing south of the Canary Islands.
On Wednesday, December 10th, local time, unstable sea conditions caused the Singapore-flagged container "One Continuity" to enter the port of Las Palmas in an emergency state.
During the crossing of the Atlantic, the ship was struck by huge waves causing the stern of the ship to shift. Under the impact of the huge waves, nearly 100 containers were unstable and rolling, and about 45 containers fell into sea. The emergency situation forced the ship to change course to the port of Las Palmas and dock at the Boluda terminal.
The giant container ship, which docked at the port of Las Palmas, belongs to the ONE fleet, one of the leading container shipping companies in the world. The ship is 320 meters long 46 meters wide, and has a DWT of 90466.
The official website of ONE shows that the "One Continuity" deployed on the FP1 route, departed from the French port of Le Havre on December 4th, and was originally scheduled to arrive at the port of Singapore on January 0, 2026.
On Thursday, dockworkers at the port of Las Palmas, with the help of land cranes, struggled to unt the lashings of nearly 20 containers and unload them from the stern of the "One Continuity", which were almost completely destroyed after they flipped over under the of the huge waves.
The securing team is repositioning the cargo so that the ship can continue its voyage after the emergency diversion to Las Palmas. The railing that secures the containers has shifted significantly, but the work is progressing."
