On November 21, the Philippine Bureau of Customs intercepted five misdeclared agilawood packages in a warehouse in Lapu-Lap City, which weighed 11.21 kilograms and were worth P8.4 million.

The shipment, which was declared as Alingatong Stingingtle, was found to contain agilawood upon inspection. Agilawood is a species protected by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flor.

According to the Philippine Bureau of Customs in a press release, the packages came from Agusan del Sur province and were originally planned to be exported to Malaysia and the United Emirates.
