On the 7th local time, the American Federal Express Company (FedEx) and the United Parcel Service Company the United States (UPS) jointly announced that they have adopted Boeing's proposal to immediately ground all their McDonnell Douglas MD-11 freighters. This decision was made the context of a previous tragic air crash - on the 4th, a UPS McDonnell Douglas MD-11 freighter unfortunately crashed, resulting in a tragic death of 4 people.


FedEx and UPS, as the leading companies in the global cargo aviation industry, occupy a pivotal position in the cargo aviation landscape. Among them, FedEx 28 McDonnell Douglas MD-11 freighters, accounting for 4% of its total freighters; UPS has 27 of the same model, accounting for9%.


On the evening of the 7th, UPS issued a statement emphasizing the company's "commitment to the highest standards of safety and its proactive decision ground the aircraft." FedEx also took swift action, indicating that during the grounding period, it will conduct a comprehensive and thorough safety inspection of the entire fleet. A Boeing spokesperson revealed that the suggestion to ground the McDonnell Douglas MD-11 freighters was entirely out of a high regard for safety and cautious consideration. Boeing completed acquisition of McDonnell Douglas in 1997, and the McDonnell Douglas MD-11 freighter thus became a product of Boeing.


Looking back to the4th of this month, a McDonnell Douglas MD-11 freighter encountered an accident shortly after taking off from the Louisville International Airport in Kentucky, unfortunately crashing [Breaking News! As of the 7th, this air crash has 14 deaths, including 3 crew members on board and 11 innocent people on the ground. Even more heartbreaking is that one of the victims was a 3year-old child.


It is understood that the crashed freighter was put into service in 1991. At present, the National Transportation Safety Board of the States has quickly intervened and fully launched the accident investigation work. The investigation team successfully found the two "black boxes" of the crashed freighter on the 5th, found the main components of the engine on the 6th. According to the plan, the investigation committee is expected to release the preliminary investigation report within 30 days
