An oil tanker named the NQ Rosa, carrying a cargo of phosphoric acid, leaked around 2,000 litres the substance while it was docked at the port of Saint-Malo, France. Reports indicate that one security guard was injured; fortunately, the incident did not result in fatalities or pollution.


The incident occurred at around 5:30 a.m. local time on October 20th, as the oil tanker wasored at the Jacques Cartier dock in Saint-Malo to unload its cargo of phosphoric acid.


According to reports, a burst hose was the cause of leak, with approximately 2,000 litres of phosphoric acid flowing into a collection pit. While the acid did not enter the port's waters, it spl onto the dock. A security guard who was patrolling at the time of the incident was urgently hospitalized due to contact with the acid.


Twenty-four firefighters in chemical hazards were dispatched to the scene and arrived around 9 a.m. The emergency response was completed, and the safety cordon was lifted at 1 p.m that afternoon.


The cargo of phosphoric acid was destined for the Phosphea company, part of the Roullier group. The group stated that the port's were not polluted and that clean-up operations were underway at the dock.


The NQ Rosa is a chemical tanker flying the Maltese flag, built in2004. The ship is 112 meters long, 19 meters wide, and has a gross tonnage of 5,451 tons
